"A man's children and his garden both reflect the amount of weeding done during the growing season."

This quote from an unknown person tells much about our Dad.
Leslie Mutziger, born in 1917 in South Dakota, USA, raised his family on a modest farm -- he always had a healthy garden and we wish to share the story with you!

He generously gave of himself to assure that his children had the essentials, basic schooling and nourishment.  Equally important, he was an honest and hard-working farmer, Decency and Integrity werethe cornerstones in his life

Dad’s serene demeanor (a trait more often found in a Buddhist Temple, rather than on a farm on these vast prairies) was obvious to everyone ~ and many remember him with these words; “Another beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky”!

We wrote a book about Dad when he was living his 97th year. Dad was an inspiration to everyone that knew him, we are proud of him,

Here (click on picture), you will find all of the pages from the book about Leslie Mutziger.
This can be downloaded, it is 24 page in PDF format (4 MB)

If you have an iPad, the book can be opened and viewed in iBooks.

Addendum: Leslie Mutziger died on 26 June 2014
We were sad that Dad left us, however, we felt that he wanted to return to God's Garden:

God's Garden
God looked around His garden,
And he found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you,
And lifted you to rest;
God's garden must be beautiful,
He takes only the best.
…For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

Anton Wermers (born Prussia) and Sophia Geraths were Mom’s grand-parents; they are further interlinked with Mom & Dad’s family through Della (Dad’s sister).

Anton & Sophia had 14 children and the last of those children, Louis, died in 2013 (he was 100 years old).

There are almost 400 people, direct descendants of Anton & Sophia on this chart – and we do not even have the names of everyone!  There are many more distant cousins unknown to us.

Here you can download the Wermers - Weber Family Tree  in PDF.

Serenade for Mom (4.20 minutes)
The Mutziger-family has had quite an amazing journey. Their start was on a small homestead in the middle of South Dakota. Their first-priority was survival, and later they found the courage and curiosity to travel to many countries (more about their adventures in the travel albums on this website). Here is a video that was made in 2018. Rita's brother Virgil (80 years) wanted to take Rita (94 years)for a spin on his HarleyDavidson! Keep in mind that the largest motorcycle festival in the world takes place each summer in Sturgis, South Dakota (Virgil's home).

Dad studied to become a veterinary, and has always loved animals and nature. Here is a short video showing the integration of a baby Bengal cat into my home in Thailand. Dad enjoyed this video, perhaps it also expresses the loving and light-hearted nature of Dad's character. Tiger ~ the Baby Bengal!

We love our parents and they continue to be an inspiration for us.  We hope that this information will keep memories of them alive.
